Cornerstone Maths – get involved
Cornerstone Maths
Cornerstone Mathematics integrates information and communications technology (ICT) into mathematics lessons to present key mathematical ideas using dynamic representations and simulations. Cornerstone Mathematics is intended for use by pupils in Key Stage 3, and is aligned with the new National Curriculum released in July 2013. Current units address hard-to-grasp concepts in linear function and geometric similarity, and upcoming units will address algebraic expressions and ratio.
Cornerstone Maths also makes extensive use of pupil collaborations to foster mathematics vocabulary development. Continuing professional development (CPD) is another key facet of the project. Schools currently using Cornerstone Maths report school-wide change in the way teachers approach mathematics education across grades and as a community.
